Whether you’ve relocated, retired, or started a new chapter, it can be challenging to build authentic connections that go beyond casual conversation.
That’s why Chapala Connections was created — a private, members-only social and matchmaking club for english speaking single adults over 50. No apps. No swiping. No pressure. Just real people meeting in person, in a safe, friendly, and elegant environment.
How It Works
Personal Welcome Interview
Each member is personally interviewed so we can get to know who you are and what you’re looking for — whether it’s friendship, companionship, or romance.
Curated Social Events
Members are invited to attend two mixers each month, typically held on a Wednesday or Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. We are currently securing outstanding venues that will create a wonderful experience for everyone who attends. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks, and water will be provided, along with a no-host bar offering beer and wine. Each event will feature live background music, games, speed mingling, and other fun activities. All locations will be chosen with ample nearby parking to accommodate a large group.
Tailored Introductions
For those who want a more personalized touch, we offer curated matchmaking based on lifestyle, goals, and shared values.
Membership is capped at 70
This ensures every member receives genuine attention, high-quality introductions, and access to exclusive mixers.
Once we hit our limit, entry closes and a waitlist begins—openings may take months.

Basic 3 Month Plan: For $900 pesos monthly you will receive invitations to (2 ) monthly social mixers and the monthly newsletter. (after your initial 3 month membership you can stay in the club by paying your dues on a month to month basis.)
Premium 3 Month Plan: For $1400 pesos monthly you will receive invitations to (2 ) monthly social mixers; one curated match introduction and the monthly newsletter. (after your initial 3 month membership you can stay in the club by paying your dues on a month to month basis.)
Elite 3 Month Plan: For $2700 pesos monthly you will receive invitations to (2 ) monthly social mixers; private matchmaking and priority access. (after your initial 3 month membership you can stay in the club by paying your dues on a month to month basis.)
We have achieved our first membership goal. Due to popular demand we have changed our membership program to an initial 3 month membership.
After you sign up and pay for your first month you are in the club. All new memberships will start effective on January 1, 2026. Your next two payments will be due on February 1 and March 1 2026. After your initial 3 months you can maintain your membership on a month to month basis. We have limited openings so reserve your membership today!

But remember, we have limits on membership, so it would be best to secure your place in the club today. Plus your membership will not start until January 1, 2026. Emily Duncan has called the Lake Chapala area home for more than three decades — long enough to have watched it transform from a quiet Mexican village into one of the country’s most vibrant international communities. Originally from Ontario, Canada, Emily moved to Mexico in the early 1990s and quickly fell in love with the culture, the people, and the rhythm of lakeside life.
Fluent in Spanish and deeply integrated into both the local and expat communities, Emily has built strong relationships with residents, business owners, and newcomers alike. Over the years, she has become a trusted resource — someone people naturally turn to for advice, introductions, and a listening ear.
Her warmth, empathy, and understanding of cross-cultural relationships are at the heart of Chapala Connections. Emily’s goal is simple yet profound: to help others find the same sense of belonging and companionship that has made Lake Chapala her forever home.
About Steve Powers
Steve Powers brings more than five decades of entrepreneurial experience to Chapala Connections, along with a seasoned understanding of people and the art of creating meaningful social experiences. Originally from California, Steve built a successful career in the events and entertainment industry, producing major art shows and cultural festivals across the United States.
During his divorce after 43 years of marriage, Steve relocated to Lake Chapala to begin a new chapter—one centered on community, creativity, and connection. Known for his charisma, vision, and down-to-earth style, he quickly recognized a gap in the local social landscape: singles over 50 looking for genuine companionship beyond the usual bar scene or dating apps.
Blending his lifelong talent for bringing people together with his warm, approachable nature, Steve co-founded Chapala Connections to help others find joy, friendship, and love—showing that starting over later in life can lead to the most meaningful adventures of all.
